Catholic Charities welcome volunteers during Catholic schools week
FLINT — The media is welcome throughout the month of January, as Catholic Charities hosts hundreds of student volunteers from Catholic Schools throughout Genesee County, including: St. Robert, Flushing, on Jan. 29 at 9 a.m.
The students are volunteering as part of Catholic Schools Week and will be working on several different service projects in the Catholic Charities Center for Hope, 517 E. Fifth Ave., Flint.
Students at Holy Family in Grand Blanc will once again be making their “Lunches of Love” to be distributed through Catholic Charities’ North End Soup Kitchen and students at St. John the Evangelist in Fenton will be working on projects at school on Jan. 30.
A few of the projects that students will be working on include making blankets for the Center for Hope Warming Center, making sandwiches and decorating cookies for Catholic Charities’ three soup kitchens, as well as making and bottling laundry soap for the Community Closet, also in the Center for Hope.
National Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. Throughout the week, schools focus on the value Catholic education provides to young people and its contributions to their church, communities and nation. (www.ncea.org)

Genesee Wind Symphony holding concert
DAVISON TWP. — The Genesee Wind Symphony will perform “An American Pageant” concert Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Davison Missionary Church, 1481 N. Gale Rd. Dr. Chris Heidenreich will be conducting one of Michigan’s premier wind symphonies in a “President’s Day” concert of patriotic and American music.

Award-winning gospel group coming to area church
