CAHS offering dual enrollment program

FLINT TWP. — A Parent Information meeting about the Carman-Ainsworth High School Dual Enrollment Program was held Wednesday night but interested parents who missed it still can contact high school officials for details. C-A will offer students several opportunities for dual enrollment in the 2015-2016 school year. Dual enrollment allows students to earn both high school and college credit for courses at very little cost. For example, twelve credits at the University of Michigan-Flint costs approximately $5,600. CAHS will pay for the majority of these courses. The cost for C-A students would be around $1,500 plus the cost of textbooks which is a significant savings. Courses at Mott Community College are typically fully covered by the school through dual-enrollment funding. There are three programs offered through UM-Flint for 2015-2016 for CAHS 12th-graders with a 3.0 GPA or higher: Pre-Engineering, Medical Sciences, and Fine Arts. Also, a program through Mott Community College includes ASL (American Sign Language) and social studies/ humanities courses that are transferable to most Michigan colleges. — R.S.
