Catholic Charities ready for St. Patrick’s Day!

FLINT — Catholic Charities will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with their St. Patrick’s Day Box Lunch Sale, March 17.

This annual fundraiser is a Flint tradition, offering a delicious boxed lunch that includes a sandwich, stacked high with corned beef and Swiss on rye, chips, coleslaw, pickle and a treat — all for only $6. Drive-thru pick up will be open 10 a.m.-1 p.m., in front of Catholic Charities’ main office at 901 Chippewa St., next to St. Michael Parish in Flint.

Free delivery in Genesee County is offered for orders of 10 or more. Lunches can be ordered now, by fax 810-232-3465, by phone 810-232-9950, ext. 325/226, or online at www.ccsgc.org.

“Our St. Patrick’s Day Lunch Sale has been a tradition for many years in this community. People always look forward to the delicious corned beef sandwiches and homemade coleslaw and knowing they’re supporting a good cause,” said Vicky Schultz, President and CEO of Catholic Charities. “The lunches have become so popular; we’ve sold out of sandwiches for the last several years, so get your orders in early to make sure you don’t miss out!”

“Community response to this fundraiser has been tremendous. The money we take in makes a big difference for the people we serve each day. We are very grateful to the community for their support,” adds John Manse, Director of Community Services at Catholic Charities. Catholic Charities of Shiawassee and Genesee Counties has been Providing Help and Creating Hope for those in need since 1941, serving all people regardless of faith or background.

Valley Area Agency on Aging to hold meeting

BURTON — The Valley Area Agency on Aging will be holding its 9th Annual Meeting on March 23, from 10 a.m.-noon at Brookwood Golf and Banquet Center on 6045 Davison Rd.

As The Valley Area Agency on Aging marks its 40 year anniversary, the Annual Meeting celebrates the accomplishments of the Agency and the aging network, and it recognizes extraordinary seniors in our community. Highlights of the meeting will include the presentation of awards for Aging Partner of the Year, Centenarian of the Year, Advocate of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, and Legislative Award.
