UM-Flint chancellor to speak to business group

FLINT TWP. — Susan Borrego, Chancellor of the University of Michigan- Flint will be the guest speaker at the West Flint Business Association monthly luncheon meeting, noon-1; 15 p.m. Wednesday, May 20 at Valley Family Restaurant, 5009 Miller Road. Borrego will talk about the interconnected and mutually beneficial history of UM-Flint and the city of Flint; how UM-Flint’s future growth and development are connected and interdependent upon their relationship with the community and the future direction as U-M moves into the next stage and its capital campaign. WFBA will also present its annual scholarship awards to three local students. Meetings are open to the public and no reservations are needed. Purchasing lunch is optional. — R.S.

Annual shred day Saturday

FLINT TWP. — Gather your old papers and private documents to securely discard on the annual Shred Day coming up from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, May 16 in the parking lot of the township administration building, 1490 Dye Road. Shred Experts will bring in a truck equipped to shred documents into confetti. It is for township residents only, who are allowed to bring up to two medium-sized boxes or two shopping bags, to help keep the line moving. — R.S.

Acclaimed gospel singer concert this week

FLINT TWP. — Sandy Patty, a five-time Grammy winner and acclaimed Christian singer, will sing in concert at the Central Church of the Nazarene, 1261 West Bristol Road, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 15. Holistic festival Saturday

FLINT TWP. — A Psychic/Holistic Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 15 at the Luxe Lounge and Banquet Center, 1519 W. Bristol Road, sponsored by A New You Holistic Wellness Center. It will feature some of the area’s most talented practitioners including psychic readers and mediums. Services will include Access Bars, Oil Consultations, massage, Past Life Regression, Reiki, hand waxing, Sound/Tuning Fork Healing, Earth Energy Vibration Healing & Crystal Healing and more. Many vendors will be providing everything from Metaphysical Supplies to Natural Body Products. Admission is $5 and includes hourly prize drawings and a free raffle of a gift basket.
