Public invited to Healthy University at Flint Elks Club

GRAND BLANC — Calling all golfers, recreational sports enthusiasts, and people who enjoy being active — even with the challenge of Joint Discomfort and Chronic Arthritis.

Join McLaren Flint and the Flint Elks Club for the kick-off session of Healthy University, June 16, at 6:30 p.m. at the Flint Elks Club, 7177 E. Maple Road, Grand Blanc. Light refreshments will be served.

Whaley Center raises record amount at gala

FLINT — Rebecca Bartley with Icon Mortgage Lending, along with host sponsor, Grand Blanc Motorcars and Dave Isbell, presented the annual Tux & Tennies Gala and Auction on May 9. With 340 community members in attendance, the event raised a record breaking amount. Tux & Tennies is one of Whaley Children’s Center’s three large annual fundraisers and featured live entertainment by Sounds of Sinatra with the Motor City Jazz Orchestra.

Hurley ER, STAT EMS & Genesee County Parks to hold Rescue 911 event

FLINT — Hurley Medical Center is partnering with STAT EMS, Genesee County Parks, along with local police and fire Departments for the next FREE Rescue 911 events, for children ages 8 through 12.

Registration is being accepted for June events. There are two ways to register:

STAT EMS – asp; or call 810-238-7672 Ext. 205

Genesee County Parks – create an account at; or call 810-736-7100 Ext. 6 (Call 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday)

Event times are 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (8:30 a.m. is Registration, day of the event)

The event will be held at:

June 22 – Max Brandon Park, 3606 Dupont Street, Flint

June 23 – Flushing County Park, 4417 N. McKinley Road, Flushing, Pavilion 1

June 24 – Bluebell Beach, 5500 Bray Road, Genesee Township, Pavilion 2

June 25 – Linden County Park, 15349 S. Linden Road, Linden, Pavilion 3

This will be a fun-filled day for the entire family. Activities include: Ambulance & Fire Truck Tours; First Aid; Wellness Information; Summer & Swim Safety; Bike & Helmet Safety; Home Alone Safety; Fire Prevention & Fire Safety; free materials for kids; and a free lunch. – G.G.
