Open house today at senior living facility

FLINT TWP. — A Ribbon Cutting-Name Change Celebration will be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, June 18, as Homewood Village, 4444 West Court Street, officially changes its name to Brookdale Genesee Valley. Free drinks July 19 at Tropical Smoothie

FLINT TWP. — On Friday, July 19 from 2-7 p.m. Tropical Smoothie Cafes will celebrate the 9th Annual National Flip Flop Day. All patrons wearing flip flops at that time will receive a free 24 ounce Jetty Punch Smoothie. Area locations include 2103 S. Linden Road and others in Davison, Grand Blanc, Fenton and Clio. Donations are asked to support Camp Sunshine, a retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. — R.S.

WFBA on summer hiatus

FLINT TWP. — Reminder: the West Flint Business Association does not meet during the summer months. The networking group will resume its third Wednesday monthly meeting on Sept. 16 at noon. Organizers also have announced that the Valley Family Restaurant is not closing as tentatively planned. WFBA plans to continue holding its meetings there in the fall. — R.S.

C-A School District to shut down one week

FLINT TWP. — All buildings in the Carman-Ainsworth school district will be closed July 1-7. There will be no staff or office personnel in the buildings. If you need to contact someone in one of the administrative offices, you can do so on July 8. The District will also be closed on the following Fridays in July: 17, 24, and 31. — R.S.

Salon hosts grand opening
