Emergency siren will sound Saturday afternoon

FLINT TWP. — Despite thunderstorms in the weekend weather forecast, hopefully there won’t be any cause for worry when emergency sirens are sounded at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Sirens are tested on the first Saturday of each month, during tornado season, from approximately April through October, said Mike Burkley, assistant fire chief. The scheduled testing was pushed back one week because the first Saturday of July fell on the Independence Day holiday, he said. Normal testing on the first Saturday will resume in August. — R.S.
