Fall Enrollment Kicks Off for YouthQuest

FLINT TWP. — Onsite registration for YouthQuest — a free, after-school program that serves nearly 2,000 students in grades K-12 including those at Dye and Randels elementary schools in the Carman-Ainsworth School District – will be held from 3-6 p.m. Aug. 27. The 36-week enrichment program is administered by the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce, Starting Thursday, parents can also enroll their children for YouthQuest by completing the online registration form at uploads/2015/08/2015-16-Youth- Quest-Registration-Form.pdf and returning it to their child’s school by Monday, Sept. 21, when the program begins. Financial Plus Credit Union to hold Pink Night

FLINT — Pink Night is Oct. 1 from 5-11 p.m. at Blackstone’s Pub & Grill. This event includes a silent and live auction, dancing, drink specials, artistic, yet conservative brassiere fashion show, food, and more.

Pink Night celebrated its third consecutive year in 2014 as being a Top 25 fundraising team in the nation for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Financial Plus’ goal for 2015 is to raise over $55,000 and are well on their way, with Chass√© Ballroom and Latin Dance Studio returning as the Title Sponsor for the event for the third year in a row.

Roller Derby back Sept. 20

FLINT — The Flint City Derby Girls will bring the action back to Sunday’s, with a competition Sept. 20. The doors open at 4 p.m. with the first whistle being blown at 5 pm!

The Kid’s Zone is back! Our local chapter of the American Red Cross will be volunteering their time to run our Kid’s Zone. The Flint City Derby Girls recommend a $1 donation to them. The Red Cross will also be accepting donations.
