Comedy beauty pageant to be held Sept. 12

FLINT — The “Queen of Kings” all male Comedy Beauty Pageant at the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan 2300 Lapeer Rd., Flint in the new building off Howard Street on Sept. 12 starts at 7 p.m. doors open at 6 p.m. The finest male contestants will compete in four different categories with crowing of the “Queen” at the end. Only 200 Tickets available for $5. Men and women welcome, light refreshments. Cash donations only for prizes, voting and ticket sales. Sloan Golden Memories

FLINT — A very special event exclusively for original or authentically restored vehicles produced in 1965 or earlier will be held Sept. 20 at Sloan*Longway. The Golden Memories Automobile Gathering is sponsored by Friends of Sloan*Longway, making it free to exhibitors and attendees. They welcome all authentic and original automobiles 1965 and prior. Not visual modifications allowed. Registration takes place between 9 a.m. and noon the day of the event. The event is from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Driver and one passenger will receive free admission to the show grounds, Sloan Museum, the Buick Automotive Gallery and 10 percent off all Sloan Museum Store purchases.

The show is free and open to the public to walk among the vehicles. If visitors wish to also see Sloan Museum, regular museum admission is charged. This event is non-competitive, so there will be no judging, just a relaxing day with friends and fellow car enthusiasts who love well preserved and restored automobiles. LWV voter registration day

DAVISON TWP. — The League of Women Voters of the Flint Area will participate in the National Voter Registration Day 2015 on Sept. 22 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Davison Farmer’s Market, at Court Street and Irish Road.

The League of Women Voters of the Flint Area is participating in National Voter Registration Day (NVRD), a nationwide, nonpartisan effort to register thousands of voters on Sept. 22. The League will be at the Davison Farmer’s Market to assist voters who want to register or update their registration if they have moved.
