Police Chief issues warning about theft from vehicles

FLINT TWP. — Police Chief George Sippert is advising residents to be vigilant against a rising security issue. In the past month, police have seen an increase in larceny from motor vehicles in the business district and in neighborhood, he said. He is advising residents not to leave valuables in vehicles and also asking them to call 9-11 if they see anything suspicious. — R.S.

Annual church bake sale

FLINT TWP. — The Middle Eastern Luncheon and Bake Sale will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 24, at St. George Orthodox Church, 5191 Lennon Road (behind Kohl’s and between Linden and Dye Roads). The menu includes Cooked Kibbee, Green Bean Stew (Yahnee) and Rice, Hummus, Salad, Pita Bread, Dessert, Coffee and Iced Tea. Free appliance recycling event at CAMS on Sept. 26

FLINT TWP. — On Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. until noon, Genesee County residents can bring unwanted, working and non-working appliances to the Carman-Ainsworth Middle School to be recycled at no charge. The Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission (GCMPC) has organized this appliance collection in collaboration with Great Lakes Recycling (GLR), which is based in Flint, and Keep Genesee County Beautiful. Appliances that contain refrigerant, such as refrigerators, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers will be safely transported to GLR’s facility where the refrigerant will be properly extracted. Church hosting annual craft bazaar

Habitat celebrating 25 years of community building

MUNDY TWP. — Tickets are now being sold for the 25th anniversary celebration of Genesee County Habitat for Humanity from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Thursday, October 15 at the Holiday Inn Gateway Center, Tickets are $50 per person and $450 per table of 10. This gala dinner will include guest speakers, an auction, along with live entertainment. More than 250 community leaders and Habitat supporters are expected to attend.
