McLaren invites women to Breast Health Event

FLINT — Area women are invited to a pre-breast cancer awareness month event at the McLaren Imaging Center on Sept. 24.

Attendees can take advantage of free clinical breast examinations and ask clinicians questions. No appointment is necessary. A patient accounts expert will also be on hand to answer health insurance questions, or if needed, help someone sign up for insurance. The event also includes giveaways, refreshments, healthy recipes from Pampered Chef, and Jamberry, the latest craze in nail art.

Flint Arrowhead Barbershop Chorus to hold rehearsals

GRAND BLANC — Flint Arrowhead Barbershop Chorus rehearsals will be at the Grand Blanc Senior Activity Center, 12632 Pagels Dr. The chorus meets most Tuesdays (except in December) from 7-9:30 p.m., and performs all around the community. They have high school and college students standing next to guys who have been singing barbershop for more than 50 years, so if you’re a man who loves to sing, loves acapella music, and loves bringing smiles to other people’s faces, come check it out.

Gamble on a difference at Casino Night Oct. 3

FLINT — The Old Newsboys will host a Casino Night on Oct. 3, at the Birch Run Expo Center. The fun starts at 6 p.m.

Your $100 ticket includes $200 in “Funny Money” for your gambling entertainment, a dinner buffet, and enters you in a drawing for cash prizes totaling $9,000– with a Grand Prize of $5,000. Use your Funny Money to play poker, black jack, roulette, or spin the Funny Money wheel. Additional Funny Money will be available to purchase. There will be music, and live entertainment including Vegas style showgirls, an Elvis impersonator, and a magician. A cash bar will be available.

Tickets are available at the Old Newsboys’ office at 6255 Taylor Drive in Flint, or at the sites of our event sponsors Shiawassee Harley Davidson in Birch Run, and at Suski Chevrolet/ Buick in Birch Run.

“Our Casino Night allows our friends to enjoy a night out,” says Old Newsboys Executive Director, Christopher Hamilton, “while contributing to a worthy cause.” Proceeds from this event will provide Christmas boxes to needy children in Genesee County. In over 90 years, the Old Newsboys have put presents under the tree for over 793,000 children across Genesee County. Last year alone, 6,630 children received gifts from the Old Newsboys.
