FLINT TWP. — The annual Carman- Ainsworth High School Homecoming parade will begin at 4:30 p.m. Friday, October 9, starting from South Baptist Church at G-4091 Van Slyke Road and ending about 5:30 pm at the Carman-Ainsworth Middle School. 1409 W. C-A marching band scores high in competition
FLINT TWP. — Congratulations are in order for the Carman-Ainsworth Blue Brigade marching band for a score of 81.925 and a 2nd place finish at the Novi “Fanfare” Michigan Competing Band Association competition on Saturday, October 3. This prestigious event draws high school marching bands from all over the metro Detroit area to compete for awards and placement. The Blue Brigade also won the caption awards for best music and best general effect. — R.S.
Twp. clerk sets shred date
FLINT TWP. — One last chance to do some fall purging is coming up October 17, which is the date set for the next Shred Day. Twice a year, township Clerk Kim Courts arranges for a paper shredder truck to visit the township hall for the purpose of securely shredding classified and confidential documents. The opportunity to use the shredding service is extended to residents who are allowed to bring two boxes full of documents to be shredded. The truck will be in the parking lot behind the township hall from 10 a.m. to noon that Saturday. The township hall is located at 1490 S. Dye Road. — R.S.
Church hosting monthly Euchre tournaments
FLINT TWP. — After a September hiatus, St. George Orthodox Church, 5191 Lennon Road, will resume hosting its monthly Euchre Tournament on the second Friday of each month. The next event is October 9. Habitat 25th anniversary gala less than a month away
MUNDY TWP. — Tickets are still being sold for the 25th anniversary celebration of Genesee County Habitat for Humanity from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Thursday, October 15 at the Holiday Inn Gateway Center, Tickets are $50 per person and $450 per table of 10. This gala dinner will include guest speakers, an auction and live entertainment. More than 250 community leaders and Habitat supporters are expected to attend.
