Hazardous waste collection date set for Oct. 17

GENESEE COUNTY — The fall Household Hazardous Waste & Electronic Waste Collection Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17. Drop off sites will be at the (former) Showcase Cinema East, 5205 E. Court St. in Burton and at the Flint East – Water Service Center, 3310 E. Court St. in Flint. The event is coordinated by the Household Hazardous Waste Consortium of Genesee County with the Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission, Genesee

County Sheriff’s Department, Boy Scouts of Grand Blanc Troop 238, ELGA Credit Union, Keep Genesee County Beautiful and several municipalities including Flint Township. Tret Fure album release concert at UUCF

FLINT — The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Flint (UUCF) has announced singer songwriter Tret Fure will be performing a special CD release concert at the UU Church on Ballenger Highway on Oct. 2 at 7 p.m.

The show will feature her new release, Rembrandt Afternoons, along with a few old favorites. Tickets can be purchased in advance online at the church or by calling 810-232-4023. New Century Chorale to host food drive concert

GRAND BLANC TWP. — The New Century Chorale of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, 9020 S. Saginaw, will host their Annual Harvest of Song to benefit a local charity—this year’s being The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. The event will take place Nov. 8 at 4 p.m. and will feature a good will donation and a portion of ticket proceeds will be donated to this worthy cause.
