Sybyl award nominations sought

GENESEE COUNTY — Do you know an outstanding community volunteer? Would you like to see them recognized for their outstanding service?

The Sybyl Award Committee is pleased to announce that nominations are once again being accepted for the 2015 Sybyl Award. The award was created in 2008 to honor the life of Sybyl M. Atwood.

Sybyl served as Program Director for Volunteer and Information Services at Resource Genesee and its predecessor organizations for more than 40 years. At the closing of Resource Genesee, the members of the Sybyl Award Committee pledged to continue honoring exceptional community volunteers in Sybyl’s name.

The Sybyl Award was designed to acknowledge someone in the Genesee County community who exemplifies Sybyl’s energy, outlook, and dedication to helping others.

Markstrom named Civil Utilities Division Manager

FlINT — ROWE Professional Services Company Senior Project Manager Jeffrey B. Markstrom, PE, has been promoted to the company’s Civil Utilities Division manager position. He is replacing Leanne H. Panduren, PE, as she transitions to the chief executive officer (CEO) position. Current CEO John D. Matonich, PS, will retire at the end of this year.

ROWE’s headquarters is in Flint; additional offices are located in Lapeer, Mount Pleasant, Farmington Hills, Grayling, and the tri-cities area, and Myrtle Beach, SC. ROWE is a full-service professional firm specializing in civil engineering, surveying, aerial photography/mapping, landscape architecture, and planning. — G.G.

McLaren welcomes new nephrologist

FLINT — Owolabi Ogunneye, MD, FRCP, a nephrology and hypertension specialist has joined the medical staff at McLaren Flint. Dr. Ogunneye is in practice at Kidney Disease & Hypertension Consultants.

Dr. Ogunneye completed residency through Tufts University School of Medicine in Springfield, Massachussetts and completed fellowship training in nephrology and hypertension through the University of Utah Healthcare in Salt Lake City. He earned his medical degree through Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria and is a member of the Royal College of Physician of the United Kingdom.
