Praying for world peace

FLINT TWP. —The Life Enrichment Center, 2512 S. Dye Road, will host its annual World Peace Program at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31, to coincide with prayers being said around the world. Prayers will be led by local leaders of 9 religions in their native language who will then light a candle to signify unity. The program will include music, a burning bowl ceremony, plus wishes for the coming year. The program is free and everyone is welcome. A breakfast will follow on a gratuity basis.— R.S.

Dancing to the oldies

FLINT TWP. — The Fairlanes & The DeVilles, a ‘50s rock and roll band, will provide the entertainment for “Dance Night,” a stroll down memory lane, hosted by the Flint Township Senior Center, 6-8 p.m., Friday, January 15. Tickets are $5 each and includes light refreshments. Only 100 tickets will be sold. To purchase tickets, call 810-732-6290. The center is located at 2071 S. Early childhood program available at C-A

FLINT TWP. —Carman-Ainsworth Early Head Start is currently accepting applications from pregnant women and children under three who live in the Bendle or C-A school districts. The program includes regular home visits and family support, quality classroom experiences, parent-child activities, support for children with special needs and information about transportation resources. Flint Award Program Honors the Achievement

GENESEE COUNTY — Friends of Jim Ananich has been selected by the Flint Award Program to receive the 2015 Best of Flint Award in the Organizations category. State Senator Ananich represents Senate District 27 which includes Burton, Clio, Flint, Flint Township, Forest Township, Genesee Township, Mount Morris, Mount Morris Township, Richfield Township, Swartz Creek City, Thetford Township, Vienna Township Friends of Ananich was chosen by Flint Award Program for exceptional marketing success in the local community and business category.
