Amish goods available at Genesee Valley Center
FLINT TWP. — Lighthouse Fudge Co. at Genesee Valley Center is now offering a line of goods made by the Amish. Over 100 different Amish made foods are now available including several No Sugar Added products. Pie fillings, jams, jellies, mustards, butters, spreads, relishes, BBQ sauces, rock candy and salsas are made with all natural ingredients. Prices for the Amish goods range from $2.99 to $7.99. Open since April, Lighthouse Fudge offers quality fudge made by Original Mackinac Island Fudge Company, gourmet and boardwalk salt water taffy, old fashioned caramels and various types of nostalgic candy. “With gas prices so high, people have been waiting for a local company to bring the Up North to a business here in the Genesee County area and now we offer a line of Amish made goods too”, said owner Natalie Dennings. The Amish choose to use all natural methods to can foods like your parents and grandparents did. “Business has been good this year. Fuddruckers sponsoring benefit for BBBS
FLINT TWP. — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Flint and Fuddruckers restaurant will present a “Fudd-Rai$er” event to benefit the Big Brothers Big Sisters 100 Men 100 Boys group mentoring program. The Fudd-Rai$er takes place at Fuddruckers Thursday, October 13, 2011; 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Fuddruckers is located at 2373 Austin Parkway in Flint. Customers must present the an event flyer when placing an order and Fuddruckers will donate 20 percent of sales back to the agency. Proceeds will provide recruitment and program dollars to match more Genesee County children with a positive role model and strengthen the 100 Men 100 Boys program — a group effort designed to provide a mentoring experience for unmatched boys who are awaiting a one-on-one match with a Big Brother volunteer. There are currently over 300 Littles awaiting a mentor; twothirds of whom are young boys. Big Brothers Big Sisters is seeking male volunteers to mentor young males ages 6 to 17. — R.S.
Woman dies in fatal accident
FLINT TWP. — A 78-year-old Burton woman died in a car accident on Fenton Road just north of Maple on Sept. 23 when she made a left turn in front of a southbound vehicle, Police Chief George Sippert reported to the Township Board at its Monday night meeting. — R.S.
