MCC Fine Arts Gallery Presents “Home”

FLINT — The Mott Community College Fine Arts Gallery in the Visual Arts and Design Center will present an exhibition of work by five members of the Detroit area Riopelle Artist Collective titled “Home.” The exhibition includes illustration, design, painting and prints by Dylan Box, Lyz Luidens, Ian Matchett, Sarah Brennan and Ellen Nelson. Their work will be in the gallery now until March 8. In addition, they will give presentations about the work, Feb. 25 at noon, in the Visual Arts and Design Center, room 129. These events are made possible in part by the Ballenger Trust. The artist statement for the show: Home: a physical space, or the memory of it? The Home Show is a collection of interpretations of the idea of home by the visual artists of Riopelle. In mixed media artworks, ranging from oil paintings to drawings to 2D and 3D prints, we explore the meaning of home, past and present. Memory blurs physical spaces together, selectively arising and adding details, building the foundation on which we experience our current and future homes.
