In brief

No burns

FLINT TWP. — Noting that it is getting very dry outside, Assistant Fire Chief Mike Burkley said the department is getting close to issuing a burn ban. If it does not rain this week, there won’t be any outdoor burn permits issued, he said. A burn permit is needed to burn yard waste, build a campfire and other heavy smoke generating activities. Burkley also cautioned that fireworks can play a role in starting grassfires that already are occurring in the county now. Open Burning Permits are obtained by calling 810-732-4413.
