Stella and Frederick Loeb Charitable Trust renews Greater Flint Golf Classic

FLINT — The YWCA of Greater Flint has announced the Stella and Frederick Loeb Charitable Trust, administered by First Merit Private Bank, has chosen to be the Title Sponsor in support of the our 19th Annual Golf Classic. The event is being held at Atlas Valley Country Club, Aug. 1.

“The YWCA is honored to have the continued generous support of the Loeb Charitable Trust to assist us with the escalating needs of survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Genesee County,” said Heidi McAra, CEO of the YWCA. Funds raised at the golf outing support the programs and services of the YWCA including, SafeHouse, Genesee County’s only 24-hour emergency shelter for women and children displaced as a result of domestic violence and sexual assault. Community leaders launch Big Care for Flint campaign

FLINT — Recently, at the Flint Farmers’ Market, local community leaders, joined by city, county, state and federal officials, launched a week-long “Care for Flint” campaign to raise awareness about the new and expanded health coverage, health services, mental health services, nutrition services and family support coordination services that are unique for Flint-area residents.

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Regional Director Kathleen Falk, was joined by Flint Mayor Karen Weaver, Genesee County Health Officer Mark Valacak, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Director Nick Lyon, and United Way of Genesee County Chief Executive Officer Jamie Gaskin.

Also present were leadership from many partner organizations including Genesee Health System, Greater Flint Health Coalition, and Hamilton Community Health Network. — G.G.
