Library announces September events
FLINT TWP. – The Genesee Valley Center Library will hold a Family Coloring Party on Thursday, September 15 at 4 p.m., offering coloring pages for the whole family to reduce stress or express creativity. Light refreshments will be served. The Headquarters branch of the Genesee District Library, 4195 Pasadena, is offering three computer training classes. Computers 101: Computer Basics took place on September 13. Computers 102: Microsoft Word set for September 20 will cover Microsoft Word skills including document creation, cutting, copying, pasting and saving. Computers 103: Email and Facebook on September 27 will show to set up an email and Facebook account, and how to share pictures using Facebook. Libraries, businesses team up to promote National Library Card Signup Month
GENESEE COUNTY – The Flint Public Library and the Genesee District Library are partnering with community businesses for Library Card Sign-Up Month with a “Show Your Card and Save” promotion. During the month of September, cardholders will receive discounts and special offers from nearly 40 Genesee County businesses simply by showing their library cards. Participating businesses include Fireside Coffee, Tropical Smoothie, The Lunch Studio and NCG Theaters, along with dozens of other Genesee County restaurants and service organizations. Lansing, Flint groups to sing for community
OWOSSO — Flint’s legendary Arrowhead Barbershop Chorus and the renowned Lansing Capital City Chordsmen will perform a joint Barbershop Sing-Off (Real American Music!) concert, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m. at The Joseph H. Lebowsky Center (old Capital Theater) 122 East Main Street, Owosso.
Money raised from this event will provide funding to allow both choruses and the Owosso Community Players, 501(c) (3) organizations, to support their many community activities.
The Flint Arrowhead Barbershop Chorus has entertained audiences for almost a century with patriotic American standards and familiar tunes from days gone by. The award winning Capital City Chordsmen entertain throughout the mid-west with dynamic musical theatric shows for the entire family to enjoy.
