Food Bank to receive help from dinner

FLINT — Help the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan and the Windmill Women’s Circle crown the 2016 winner on Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. at The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan new building on 2300 Lapeer Rd., Flint off Howard Street. $10 per tickets will provide 60 meals. Pre ticket sales now, Limit tickets at the door. Cash donations only.

MCC launches campaign to encourage students

FLINT — In order to spotlight real students working toward a wide array of careers, Mott Community College has put them front and center in the new #ReadyForMore marketing campaign. The effort currently features real Mott students on billboards, bus wraps and other marketing initiatives and around the Flint, Lapeer, Clio and Fenton area.

“By featuring a large cross section of our students, we’re demonstrating the rich diversity of students who come to Mott Community College and careers that can start at this college,” said Dale Weighill, Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement at the College.

The campaign #ReadyForMore is Mott’s commitment to its students, faculty and the greater Flint community to provide a fulfilling and affordable college experience. This is especially important as Mott proudly serves students from various backgrounds with different goals and needs.

The “Ready For More” campaign featuring several students launched in July and will run for a couple of years. The effort can be found in and around the Flint metro area on a bus wrap, billboards, print ads, digital advertising, TV, Pandora radio and more. — G.G.

Halsey Old Timers to play

FLINT — The Halsey Old Timers, a local Grand Blanc band will be playing at the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan “Empty Bowls” fundraiser on Thursday, Sept. 22, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come on out and enjoy the many soups provided by great restaurants, choose a handmade bowl, and listen to great country music. The $20 donation goes to support the food bank. — P.S.
