Name change meeting is tonight

FLINT TWP. — The third meeting of an Exploratory Committee to consider changing the township’s name will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17. Township Supervisor Karyn Miler said that township attorney Peter Goodstein is expected to attend the meeting to explain the legal process and to answer questions. A committee of about 25 people has been formed but residents are welcome to attend the open meeting. — R.S.

C-A Education Foundation seeks nominees

FLINT TWP. — If you know a special person that goes above and beyond in supporting Carman-Ainsworth students, the school district, or the greater C-A community, please consider nominating them for some much-deserved recognition. The Carman- Ainsworth Education Foundation (CAEF) is seeking nominees for its spring 2017 Honoree and Silent Auction event. The nominee can be a current or retired employee, an alumnus, or a community member. The CAEF wants to recognize multiple individuals for their contributions to the Carman-Ainsworth students and/or school community. Please consider submitting a nomination on behalf of that special individual who has provided exemplary service or generosity. Nominations are due December 21, just prior to the winter recess. Holiday donations sought

FLINT TWP. — Donations are needed for the annual Bendle/Carman-Ainsworth Toy Giveaway. They will be accepting donations of gently used toys from now until November 30 at The Learning Community building, 1181 W. Scottwood Avenue. They are always in particular need of gifts for teens, such as: CD’s, iTunes gift cards, MP3 Players, books and video games. Christmas concert tickets now on sale

FLINT TWP. — Tickets are now on sale for the Celebrate Christmas Tour with Natalie Grant and Danny Gokey, a concert presented at 7 p.m. on December 8 at the Central Church of the Nazarene.1261 W. Bristol Road. Grant is a four-time Grammy nominee and five-time Dove Award-winning Female Vocalist of the Year. She is joining forces with Gokey, a two-time Dove nominee, Milwaukee native and K-LOVE’s newly-named 2016 Male Artist of the Year.
