WFBA hosts annual prize drawing

FLINT TWP. — The West Flint Business Association will host its 17th annual Holiday Scholarship Fundraiser from 11:30- 1:15 p.m. on Thursday December 8 at the Valley Family Restaurant, 5009 Miller Road at Linden Road. For a $10 donation, each guest will receive five tickets eligible for winning an estimated 75 valuable prizes. Additional tickets will be sold at 2 for $5 each. There is no limit on the number of wins. Proceeds will benefit a scholarship fund the WFBA awards each year to three students in Genesee County. — R.S.

Winterfest this Saturday

FLINT TWP. — Remember to bring the family out to celebrate at Carman-Ainsworth’s 9th annual Winterfest, to be held from 2-6 p.m., Saturday Dec. 3 in the middle school cafeteria, 1409 Maple Avenue, organized by Men at W.O.R.K. Admission is free but donations are requested in the form of non-perishable food items, gently used coats, unwrapped toys or a monetary gift. Donated items will support the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, the Salvation Army, the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots program and the Old Newsboys. Free doughnuts and hot chocolate will be served, each child will receive a toy from Santa and holiday music will be performed by Carman-Ainsworth musical talents. — R.S.

Next name change meeting is Dec. 8

FLINT TWP. — The fourth meeting of the Suggestion Committee which is exploring the idea of changing the township’s name will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, December 8 at the township hall, 1490 S. Dye Road. Representatives from the post office and an insurance agent are expected to attend to explain potential changes to zip codes and insurance rates. A volunteer committee of about 30 people has been formed but residents and business owners are welcome to attend the open meeting. — R.S.

C-A Education Foundation seeks nominees

FLINT TWP. — If you know a special person that goes above and beyond in supporting Carman-Ainsworth students, the school district, or the greater C-A community, please consider nominating them for some much-deserved recognition. The Carman-Ainsworth Education Foundation (CAEF) is seeking nominees for its spring 2017 Honoree and Silent Auction event. The nominee can be a current or retired employee, an alumnus, or a community member. The CAEF wants to recognize multiple individuals for their contributions to the Carman-Ainsworth students and/or school community. Please consider submitting a nomination on behalf of that special individual who has provided exemplary service or generosity. Nominations are due December 21, just prior to the winter recess.
