McLaren welcomes otolaryngology specialist

FLINT — Cynthia Hayes, an otolaryngology specialist, has joined the medical staff at McLaren Flint. Hayes is in practice at ENT & Plastic Surgery Associates.

Hayes completed residency in otolaryngology and facial plastics through Genesee Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc.

She earned her medical degree through Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri.

Sen. Ananich joins agriculture committee

LANSING — Senate Democratic Leader Jim Ananich (D–Flint) will join the Agriculture Committee as minority vice chair. He requested the position as part of committee changes that occurred following the swearing-in of Sen. Ian Conyers (D–Detroit).

As a member of the House of Representatives, Ananich served as the Minority vice chair for the Agriculture and Rural Development Subcommittee of the Appropriations Committee, and as a member of the Agriculture Committee.

In the Senate, he also currently serves as the Minority vice chair of the Senate Government Operations Committee. — L.R.

Google tools free for Flint businesses

FLINT — The Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce and Flint Area Reinvestment Office have announced a partnership with Google’s Let’s Put our Cities on the Map program, which will help drive sustained economic growth by giving Flint businesses the tools and resources to get their businesses online, find new customers, and grow their businesses online. Increasing the online presence of small businesses will help to expand and repair Flint’s local economy. This program is a continuation of Google’s efforts to help revitalize the area.

Google is partnering with StartLogic to provide its popular website offerings for free including an easy-to-build website, a customized domain name, and web-hosting for one year. Participating Flint businesses can go to GYBO.com to get a free website as well as free tools, training and resources to help their business succeed online. — L.R.
