Next name change meeting is Dec. 8

FLINT TWP. — The fourth meeting of the Suggestion Committee which is exploring the idea of changing the township’s name will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, December 8 at the township hall, 1490 S. Dye Road. Representatives from the post office and an insurance agent are expected to attend to explain potential changes to zip codes and insurance rates. A volunteer committee of about 30 people has been formed but residents and business owners are welcome to attend the open meeting. — R.S.

C-A Education Foundation seeks nominees

FLINT TWP. — If you know a special person that goes above and beyond in supporting Carman-Ainsworth students, the school district, or the greater C-A community, please consider nominating them for some much-deserved recognition. The Carman-Ainsworth Education Foundation (CAEF) is seeking nominees for its spring 2017 Honoree and Silent Auction event. The nominee can be a current or retired employee, an alumnus, or a community member. The CAEF wants to recognize multiple individuals for their contributions to the Carman-Ainsworth students and/or school community. Please consider submitting a nomination on behalf of that special individual who has provided exemplary service or generosity. Nominations are due December 21, just prior to the winter recess. Christmas concert tickets now on sale

FLINT TWP. — Tickets are now on sale for the Celebrate Christmas Tour with Natalie Grant and Danny Gokey, a concert presented at 7 p.m. on December 8 at the Central Church of the Nazarene.1261 W. Bristol Road. Grant is a four-time Grammy nominee and five-time Dove Award-winning Female Vocalist of the Year. She is joining forces with Gokey, a two-time Dove nominee, Milwaukee native and K-LOVE’s newly-named 2016 Male Artist of the Year. Santa Dog Days

SWARTZ CREEK – PAWS Animal Rescue is hosting its 5th annual fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at Family Farm & Home, 4315 Elms Road. Rescue dogs in Santa suits will be on hand to greet the public. — L.R.
