Salvation Army announces Red Kettle Match Day

GENESEE COUNTY — With only 12 days left until Christmas, The Salvation Army looks to have a Super Saturday this weekend! “This year is more challenging to secure necessary available funds to help supply basic needs for our neighbors so we are truly blessed to have this matching dollar program supported by The Jennings Memorial Foundation and Flint Independent Automobile Dealers Association..” stated Scott Holman, Regional Business Administrator.

The Jennings Memorial Foundation will match all kettle donations at all Walmart locations and their affiliate Sam’s Clubs in Genesee County up to $10,000. The Jennings Memorial Foundation was established Jan. 21, 1996 by Mr. and Mrs. Wyman L. Jennings who were longtime residents of Montrose. The establishment of the Jennings Memorial Foundation ensures charitable activities of Mr. and Mrs. Jennings, begun during their lifetimes, will continue into the future.

The Flint Independent Automobile Dealers Association (FIADA) will match all kettle donations at all Kroger Store locations in Genesee County up to $10,000. This non-profit association was established in 1946 and is the oldest used car dealer association in the country. The membership is comprised of more than 100 automobile dealers across the Great Lakes area.

The Salvation Army hopes to raise $800,000 during this year’s campaign. If you are unable to make it to a Red Kettle location on Saturday, but still want your money to be matched, you can TEXT key word SEASON to 91999. Funds raised through the 2016 Red Kettle Christmas campaign will help Genesee County families throughout the 2016/2017 year. — G.G.
