“Writing a Business Plan” Workshop in Flint Feb. 7
FLINT — A free “Writing a Business Plan” Workshop is being presented at Oak Business Center in Flint on Feb. 7 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Presented by the Michigan Small Business Development Center (MI-SBDC) this workshop covers the specifics of business planning including market research, marketing, finance, legal, operations, and management. Tools, steps, and a workbook for creating a business plan draft are included.
For early stage or start-up businesses, the pre-requisite to this workshop is attending the “Starting a Business” workshop which puts you on a preparation path to be ready for “Writing a Business Plan.” These and other “Venture Start” workshops are offered at multiple locations and dates around the region and the state at www.sbdcmichigan.org/training. — G.G.
I-69 Thumb Region Selects Winner of the Food & Beverage Business Contest
DAVISON — Seven businesses vied in the “Catapult Your Craft Food & Beverage Business Competition,” recently, with Elk Street Brewery in Sanilac County taking home top honors and the $5,000 grand prize.
The final round of the business competition was held today as part of the 5th Annual Regional Summit, hosted by the I-69 Thumb Region at the Davison Country Club. Cash prizes of $3,000 and $1,000, respectively, were awarded to second-place winner Harsens Island Brewery (St. Clair County) and third-place finisher The Tap Room at Bird Creek Farms (Huron County). — G.G.
Wine, Women and Chocolate event set for Feb. 4
BURTON — Women in the Genesee County area have a reason to get out and celebrate winter when the IMA Recreation Association and The First Tee of Eastern Michigan pair up to host the 12th annual Wine, Women & Chocolate event on Feb. 4. The event will be held at IMA Brookwood Golf Club in Burton. Wine, Women & Chocolate begins at 1 p.m. and provides a full afternoon of activity starting with an exhilarating (or leisurely) walk, snowshoe or cross-country ski on a 5K trail through IMA’s Brookwood Golf Club. Cross-country skis and snowshoes are generously provided by Shumaker’s Ski and Snowboard Shop. “In the event there is no snow this year, the ladies will walk the 5K track which is what we did last year,” said Diane Wojciechowski, Marketing Director for the IMA Recreation Association and IMA Brookwood Golf Club.
The wine tasting and food will run from 3-6 p.m. Cost is $50 per person and includes the equipment rental, women’s pampering, wine tasting, treats and pasta.
