Township meetings

FLINT TWP. — The township board’s next meeting will be on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. The meeting was pushed back one day due to Presidents Day when offices will be closed. Also, the township’s Suggestion Committee is scheduled to meet again at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23. The group will discuss the pros and cons of changing the township’s name. — R.S.

Church concert tonight featuring Selah, Robertson

FLINT TWP. — The “Blessed and Unbreakable Tour”, featuring the Selah gospel band and speaker, Missy Robertson, is coming to Central Church of the Nazarene, at 7 p.m. tonight, Thursday, February 16. General Admission is $15 and tickets to the artist circle is $20. Selah is an award-winning contemporary Christian vocal trio. Robertson is a Christian speaker and television personality from the A&E reality series “Duck Dynasty,” who speaks about faith and family. Central Church is located at 1261 W. Bristol Rd. — R.S.

Help fight illiteracy

FLINT TWP. —Would you like to help adults and children in the community learn to read, get math help, learn English as a Second Language or finish the GED process?

The Genesee County Literacy Coalition’s is offering two training sessions for tutors, on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 25 and Saturday March 4. The training will be held at Trinity United Presbyterian Church, 5151 Lennon Road, Flint, Mi 48532. Tutor Requirements: Finish both training sessions for tutor certification, High School Diploma or GED and provide 2 or more free hours of tutoring per week. Senior Citizens will dance to ’50s music

FLINT TWP. — The Senior Center, 2071 Graham Road, will host Dance Night from 6- 8 p.m. on Friday, February 24. It will feature music by the Fairlanes and Devilles, an oldies band.
