MCC Fine Arts Gallery to Feature Student Work

FLINT — The Mott Community College (MCC) Fine Arts Gallery in the Visual Arts and Design Center will present an All Media Exhibition featuring the selected works of Mott Art and Design Students. Their artwork will be in gallery through March 14. The outstanding work for this exhibition was selected by the Art and Design Faculty from work produced in several art and design studio courses during the fall 2016 and winter 2017 semesters. The Fine Arts Gallery is located in the Visual Arts and Design Center on the Mott Community College main campus in Flint. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Longway Planetarium to hold Jeopardy Night

FLINT — First Friday-Jeopardy Night! Is on March 3, at 6 p.m. The cost is $6 adults, $4 seniors (60+), $4 youth (ages 2-11). Tickets are available now. It is free for members. It is recommended for ages 12 and older. It includes the 7 p.m. showing of Violent Universe. — G.G.

Kidney cancer support group to meet

FLINT — This is the 10th year of the Kidney Cancer Support group. All programs are open to the public. They meet at the Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute, Robt. T. Longway Blvd.

The first meeting is ALZHEIMER’S: Past, Present and Future, with guest speaker Jo Campbell, March 15, 1:30 p.m. at the Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute, 302 Kensington Ave., Flint. Open to the general public.The second meeting is April 12, at 1:30 p.m. The third meeting is May 10, from 1-3 p.m. with Dr. Mark Roby, “Survival Skills for cancer patient.”

CA Foundation fundraiser tickets for sale

FLINT TWP. — Tickets are now being sold for the third annual Carman-Ainsworth Education Foundation Silent Auction to be held Friday, April 28, 2017, at 5:30 p.m., fat Flushing Valley Golf Club & Banquet Center, 1124 E. Main Street, Flushing. This year’s honorees are Bonnie Haffajee (retired elementary principal), Benjamin Jones (high school band director), and Lisa Koegel (parent and new school board member). Each is being recognized for continuously and unselfishly giving their time, talents, and support for the good of our students, families, staff, and greater school community. A buffet dinner will be provided and a cash bar will be available. Hundreds of valuable items will be offered in the Silent Auction. Please return the RSVP with pre-payment to Lisa Murphy at the CA Administration Building. Proceeds will benefit educational programs and services for C-A students.
