Flushing church to hold financial workshop

Local 432 to host Arts & Music Show
FLINT — Art and music are considered a holistic way to heal from trauma associated with drug and alcohol abuse. Flint’s Local 432 will host an arts and music show for the Serenity House of Flint on March 10, at 6 p.m. to inform the public of holistic approaches to recovery, raise awareness surrounding the opiate epidemic America is facing and to raise funds for Serenity House operations and repairs.
Serenity House is a recovery community organization that advocates on the current public health crisis of addiction as well informing the public of holistic options for recovery. Their new location is at 924 Church Street and is scheduled to open June 2017. Serenity House will offer multiple pathways to addiction recovery which includes SMART Recovery, workshops and classes on emotional, mental and physical wellbeing, energy medicine, acupuncture, yoga, art therapy, and sound healing.
Three women will be taking the stage March 10. Natalie Rae, Cara Elise and Cassondra Wilcox of Waiting for Rain will perform throughout the night along with artists Sam Kthar, Carl Helwing and Mindy Palmer doing live painting demonstrations during each performance.
The Serenity House of Flint is a 501c3 organization and a licensed prevention program. — G.G.
Public hearing on March 15
FLINT — A public hearing will be held March 15, at 7 p.m. in the Willard P. Harris Auditorium, third floor, Genesee County Administration Building, 1101 Beach St., as part of the Genesee County Metropolitan Alliance meeting.
This public hearing is an opportunity for you to review and comment on the following items: a proposed amendment to the FY 2017-2020 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). The TIP lists federally funded transportation projects eligible for funding under Title 23 as amended, or Federal Transit Act funds. This hearing complies with the intent of the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act. This process is also being used to meet the public input requirements of the transit Program of Projects. The proposed amendment is available for public review and comment
