Holiday shopping hours announced at GVC

FLINT TWP. — In addition to Macy’s department store, Genesee Valley Center has announced that seven mall stores also will be opening at midnight on Black Friday, November 25. They are Express, Aeropostale, The Childrens Place, PacSun, Wet Seal, NY & Co., and Buckle. Also the Coffee Beanery will be opening at 11:30 p.m. Thursday night and providing free coffee and donuts for the first 500 shoppers. Victoria’s Secret will be opening at 3 a.m. JCPenney, Sears and Vanity plan to open at 4 a.m. and Footlocker, Lady Footlocker and Kids Footlocker are planning a 4:30 a.m. opening. Other retailers hours vary but the mall’s official hours will be from 5 a.m.-10 p.m. on Nov. 25. Several activities are planned for Black Friday beginning at 5 a.m. with a live broadcast of the CK 105.5 Morning Show! with Mike and Stephanie. A $100 mall gift card will be given away every hour from 6 a.m. -9 p.m.. Black Friday also kicks off the mall’s holiday hours through Jan. 1. Mall hours will be from 5 a.m.-10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 27. After that, mall hours generally will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. o Sunday for the remainder of the year, with some exceptions. From Dec. 12-15, the mall will open at (:30 a.. and close at 9:30 p.m. It will open at 9 a.m. and close at 10 p.m. on Dec. 16, and open at 8 a.m. on Dec. 17. In the final run up to Christmas, the doors will open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. starting Dec.21-23. Christmas Eve hours are 8 a.m.-6 p.m. The mall will be closed on Christmas Day. Book sale to raise funds for the library

FLINT TWP. — “Coins for Carpet,’’ a book sale fundraiser by the Friends of Flint Township Library will be held at the McCarty branch, 2071 S. Graham Road, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19. — R.S.

Holiday fundraiser planned by men’s group

FLINT TWP. —Men At W.O.R.K,, an organization to involve men in their children’s education at Carman-Ainsworth schools, is seeking donations for its fourth annual Winter Fest, to be held from 2 -6 p.m. Dec. 3 at Carman Ainsworth Middle School. The community holiday event features musical entertainment and more. Funds raised by the event benefit the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, the Salvation Army, the U.S. Marine Corps ‘Toys for Tots’ program and Old Newsboys. Donations will be accepted at the door and can include a nonperishable food item, a warm coat, an unwrapped toy for a child or cash.
