Yard waste collection starts today in township

EDC meeting next week

FLINT TWP. — The reinvigorated Economic Development Corporation will meet at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12. A guest speaker will talk about brownfield redevelopment, said Tracey Tucker, building director. The EDC, which oversees economic development activity, had reduced its role to meeting once annually in May. The group has new members and is expected to meet more frequently to pursue economic development interests. — R.S.

Noxious weed enforcement begins May 1 in township

FLINT TWP. — Enforcement of the township’s Noxious Weed ordinance will begin May 1, said Tracey Tucker, building director, at the April 3 township board meeting. The ordinance states that landowners found to have weeds or grass higher than ten inches will be issued a notice by first class mail, giving them ten days from the postmark to cut weeds to no more than four inches. If they do not comply, the township will send someone to cut the weeds and bill the owner. Owners can challenge the notice by visiting the building office before the ten day expire. The term “noxious weeds” includes Canada thistle; Mustards (charlock, black mustard, and Indian mustard, species of Brassica or Sinapis ); Bindweed; Perennial sowthistle ;Hoary alyssum; Ragweed; Poison ivy; and Poison sumac or any other plant which, in the opinion of township officials constitutes a common nuisance.

Church hosting another comedy show
