WFBA to hear about 911 surcharge proposal

FLINT TWP. — Tim Jones, deputy director of the Genesee County 911 Center, will be the guest speaker at the West Flint Business Association monthly meeting from noon to 1;15 p.m. Thursday, April 20 at the Valley Family Restaurant, 5009 Miller Road at Linden Road. Jones will talk about the 911 surcharge increase on the May 2 ballot. He will discuss what it is for, how much funding it will generate and what will happen if the surcharge is not approved. Military and First Responder Appreciation Day on April 15

FLINT TWP. — Vehicle City Harley Davidson, 2400 Austins Parkway, will host a Military and First Responder Appreciation Day, on Saturday, April 15, starting with a breakfast at 9:30 a.m. served at the Classic Diner located in front of the dealership. All military veterans and first responders and their spouses will be treated to a meal and have an opportunity to roll with the HOG chapter in a ride leaving the dealership at noon. Sign up for Habitat Olympics

FLINT TWP. — Registration is now open for the 8th annual Habitat for Humanity Olympics to benefit the affordable house-building organization. Teams of five are signing up to participate in construction themed games such as Painter’s Putty, Toilet Toss, Bean Bag House Throw and Ladder ball. There also will be a silent auction, drywall raffle and prize wheels. The cost is $250 per team ($50 per person). The event will be held on Friday, May 5 at Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy, 4100 S. Church comedy show

FLINT TWP. — Tim Hawkins, a Christian comedian and singer known for offbeat standup routines and popular song parodies, will perform live at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 20 at t Central Church of the Nazarene, 1261 West Bristol Road.
