Shredding day coming

FLINT TWP. — It is time to start gathering up your confidential papers to be turned into confetti on Township Shredding Day. In recent years, a special shredding truck has come in twice a year, in the spring and fall, to shred confidential documents. Each resident is allowed to bring two boxes of papers. The truck will be located in the parking lot of the township administrative building at 1490 S. Dye Road, from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 6. — R.S.

MCC Dives into “The Business of Beauty”

FLINT — Beauty is multi-billion dollar industry and the Mott Community College (MCC) Business Division is sponsoring workshops to help beauty industry professionals become more successful at “The Business of Beauty” and give students an opportunity to learn about the available career options in this growing career field.

The free Business of Beauty event for industry professionals is Monday, April 17 from noon to 4 p.m. in the Event Center on the MCC main campus in Flint.

The free Business of Beauty open house for students interested in careers in the beauty industry will be Tuesday, April 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Visual Arts & Design Center on the MCC main campus in Flint. Students will be able to meet salon owners, MCC instructors and students and learn more about careers in Salon Management, Cosmetology, Nail Technology, and Esthetics. The open house will also feature a chance to win facials, haircuts and manicures.

Government lending seminar for lenders

FLINT — “Government Lending Seminar: Structuring Your Loan to Close the Deal” designed for commercial loan officers, credit officers, loan administrators and any others associated with business lending. It will be offered in Flint, April 26, 9-11:30 a.m. at Kettering University. The seminar is co-sponsored by the I-69 Trade Corridor regional office of the Michigan Small Business Development Center (MI-SBDC).

The seminar will feature representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), and the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture (USDA).
