Bishop Airport on lockdown after officer stabbing

FLINT TOWNSHIP — Bishop International Airport was locked down Wednesday morning after a police officer was stabbed in the neck.

Neither airport nor police authorities were available to provide additional details of the incident by press time.

The attack occurred around 9:30 a.m.

Scanner traffic indicated one suspect was in custody and officers from multiple agencies were conducting a sweep of the airport.

Bristol Road was shut down and travelers were being advised to check for flight delays. — L.R.

Robotics public showcase planned on June 27

FLINT TWP. — “More than a Robot,’’ and open house by the Carman-Ainsworth robotics team is being planned for 6:30- 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 27 at the Atlantis Alternative High School, G-3493 Beveridge Road.

You will get to see the team’s award-winning robots in action, learn how robots prepare students for college and careers and see firsthand “the hardest fun you will ever have.” — R.S.

Church hosting comedy show, honor service

FLINT TWP. — Singer, comedian and storyteller Allison Speer of Nashville, Tenn. will appear live in concert at 10:25 a.m. on Sunday July 2 at Central Church of the Nazarene, 1261 West Bristol Road. The church will then host its God & Country Service at 11 a.m. featuring honors for Armed Services personnel and veterans; first responders (police, fire and paramedics); Central’s choir and orchestra with Speer and a special message from Pastor Rob Prince. Also on that same day the church’s annual Car & Truck Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot. — R.S.

Schools closed all week

FLINT TWP. — The Carman-Ainsworth school district will be closed July 3 – July 7. There will be no staff or office personnel in any of the buildings. If you need to contact someone in one of the administrative offices, you can do so on Monday, July 10. — R.S.
