Library events in July

FLINT TWP. — The Genesee Valley Center Library (Sears Wing) of the Genesee District Library will hold a Literature Book Club on July 11 at 7 p.m. Guests will discuss literary classics, but titles are voted on by the group. On July 12 at 5 p.m. the mall branch will host “Under Construction” where participants can build the tallest tower, use magnets to sort hardware and follow a blueprint to build structures using hands-on STEM activities. The mall library also will hold a Nonfiction Book Club on July 18 at 7 p.m. and on July 27 at 5 p.m. will hold a Movie Club for which guests will view movies at home and come prepared to discuss with the group. — R.S.

Donations sought for Sept. robotics yard sale

FLINT TWP. —Donations are being sought for the annual Carman-Ainsworth Robotics Yard Sale Fundraiser to be held from 9am – 5 pm. Saturday, September 2, Sunday, September 3 and Monday, September 4 at 5301 S. Dyewood Drive, between Court St and Calkins off Dye Rd. All proceeds go to the robotics team. “That Day is Coming” bus tour rescheduled

FLINT TWP. — Tickets are not needed but a love offering will be received for a rescheduled concert by the renown Collingsworth Family at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 9 at Central Church of the Nazarene, 1261 W Bristol Road. “That Day is Coming” is the newest full-scale studio project for the Collingsworth Family who have sung and played all over the United States (as well as internationally) into their 27th year of ministry. FLINT TWP. — “On the Green,” the inaugural Carman-Ainsworth Education Foundation Gold Scramble will take place at the Flint Golf Club on Monday, July 24. Donations and sponsorships are sought. Schools of Choice applications accepted

FLINT TWP. — The Schools of Choice application period for the 2017-18 school year, has ended for grades K–5 at Carman Ainsworth Schools but applications are still being accepted for grades 6-12 until August 18. Applications are available in the Administration Building or online. — R.S.
