Chamber to host tree warming

GRAND BLANC — The Grand Blanc Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with Harada Electric and Waddles and Toddles will be hosting a tree warming for the needy. The tree warming will start at 6 p.m. on Dec. 5 at Harada Electric, 320 E. Grand Blanc Road, and those in attendance are asked to bring gloves, scarves, hats or socks to donate to children. Santa will then deliver all donations to a shelter in Flint. — A.B.

Scouts hold tree sale

GRAND BLANC — The 4th Annual Boy Scout Troop 106 Christmas Trees Sale is at the corner of Grand Boulevard and Church Street in downtown Grand Blanc and continues each Saturday and Sunday through December. Hours are from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Select from a variety of fresh cut, high quality trees such as Frasier Fir, Blue Spruce, White and Scotch Pine trees as well as the wonderful citrus scent of Concolors. Prices start at $19 and tree sizes vary from 5 to 12 feet. The proceeds from this event are used to support Troop 106 scouting activities. — G.G.

Market to help send local woman to Cambodia

GRAND BLANC — On Dec. 4 from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. at VFW Post 822, G-5056 S. Saginaw St., Missy Healey, the manager of the Grand Blanc Farmers Market and a senior at the University of Michigan-Flint, will be hosting a food and craft show titled Mission: Vendor Possible. The proceeds from this food and craft show will support Missy’s Study Abroad program to Cambodia where she will be doing service learning in an orphanage. This Study Abroad Program is through the University of Michigan- Flint. Mission: Vendor Possible will consist of crafters such as jewelry, glass art, crochet items, home and garden decor, doll clothes and more. Genesys Hospice hosts Memory Tree ceremony

GENESEE COUNTY — Genesys Hospice will host its 19th annual Memory Tree lighting ceremony to remember loved ones who have passed away, and to honor special family members and friends. This year’s event will take place Dec. 1, at 7 p.m., at the Holiday Inn Gateway Centre on Hill Road (off US 23) in Flint. Genesys will recognize all contributions with a purple heart — bearing the name of a loved one — that will hang on the 18-foot Memory Tree throughout the holidays. Hearts can be purchased in any amount. Proceeds from Memory Tree donations are used to enhance the Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich and support patients and families who may have special, unexpected needs.
