GISD program to host Relentless Tour with Anthony Ianni

GENESEE COUNTY — Genesee Intermediate School District’s 21st Century Bridges to Success Summer Learning Program welcomes the Relentless Tour featuring Anthony Ianni on July 27 at 9 a.m. in the Genesee Career Institute Innovation Zone, G-5081 Torrey Road Flint, Michigan 48507.

As the first athlete with autism to play Division 1 college basketball, Anthony played on two Big Ten Championship teams and the 2010 Final Four team at Michigan State University under Coach Tom Izzo. Anthony now speaks to youth about eradicating bullying and sharing inspirational messages on “Living your Dreams”.

DTV documentary on Flint Water Crisis to be shown

TRAVERSE CITY — “Undrinkable,” the documentary produced by Davison High School’s DTV students about the Flint water crisis, will be shown at the Traverse City Film Festival at 9:30 a.m., July 28.

The documentary will be aired along with three other Flint-based films. DTV will have the only high school film showing at the festival. A couple DTV students will also sit on a panel for discussion following the films.

“For three years the DTV crew has worked hard to tell the story of Flint to the world and this is a big moment for the us, said DTV teacher Randy Scott. “It is a true honor for DTV to have its work viewed at such a big event.” — G.G.

Join Big Brothers Big Sisters for Kids Bowl-A-Mania

GRAND BLANC — Volunteers, Little Brothers and Little Sisters, their families, and community youth groups will bowl to support and raise funds for the annual Big Brothers Big Sisters “Kids Bowl-A-Mania” Aug. 2, from 4-8 p.m. The event will take place at Galaxy Bowling Center, 2226 E. Hill Road in Grand Blanc. Participants will bowl one game for one hour which includes: shoe rental, pizza and a drink.
