National Night Out Tuesday

FLINT TWP. — The police department is inviting everyone to attend its annual National Night Out event from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1 on the grounds of the Flint Police Department and adjacent Flint Township Park, 5200 Norko Drive. National Night out is a community safety event spearheaded by the National Association of Town Watch, the Flint Township Police Department and the Mundy Twp./Swartz Creek Metro Police Authority. Fire departments and other area law enforcement departments also participate. The event offers vendors, demonstrations, games, free food, prizes and other entertainment. New additions this year include a Bishop Airport public safety display, said Police Chief George Sippert. — R.S.

Donations sought for Sept. robotics yard sale

FLINT TWP. — Donations are being sought for the annual Carman-Ainsworth Robotics Yard Sale Fundraiser to be held from 9am – 5 pm. Saturday, September 2, Sunday, September 3 & Monday, September 4 at 5301 S. Dyewood Drive, Flint in between Court St and Calkins off Dye Rd. All proceeds go to the robotics team. Free summer meals

FLINT TWP. — Nutritious free meals are available for children and teens 18 and younger at many locations throughout the nation throughout the summer while school is out of session. Sites in Genesee County include Carman Park School, 3375 Van Campen, lunch from 1:30-1L40 p.m., Monday-Friday until August 18, sponsored by the Eastern Michigan Food Bank. Bike Night Schedule at Harley-Davidson

Senior Center events

FLINT TWP. — Taking advantage of summer weather, several upcoming senior events will be held outdoors. Coming up at the center pavilion from 7-9 p.m. Friday August 11 is the Big Dance featuring the Fairlanes and the DeVille’s golden oldies music band. Tickets are $5 each in advance. The August Brunch will be an outdoor fish fry at a cost of $5 per person. And Tuesday, August 22 is Senior Day at the Genesee County Fair. Free passes are available at the center.— R.S.
