Kidney Cancer meeting

FLINT — The Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute, 302 Kensington Ave., Flint. will host weekly informational meetings regarding kidney cancer related issues. All meetings are open to the public and will feature speakers from various local and national health organizations. Wednesday, Sept.20 at 1 p.m. Genesys will welcome Ms. Nateeba Massey of the National Kidney Foundation’s Flint office on the topic of diabetes and cancer. Donations sought for Sept. robotics yard sale

FLINT TWP. —Donations are being sought for the annual Carman-Ainsworth Robotics Yard Sale Fundraiser to be held from 9am – 5 pm. Saturday, September 2, Sunday, September 3 & Monday, September 4 at 5301 S. Dyewood Drive, Flint in between Court St and Calkins off Dye Rd. All proceeds go to the robotics team.

Free summer meals

FLINT TWP. — Nutritious free meals are available for children and teens ages 18 and younger at many locations throughout the nation during the summer while school is out of session. Sites in Genesee County include the Boys and girls Club — PEAK building,1261 W. Bristol Road, serving lunch from 12:30-1:30 p.m. and snacks from 3:30-4 p.m., Monday-Thursday until August 17, sponsored by the Eastern Michigan Food Bank. Schools of Choice applications accepted

FLINT TWP. — The Schools of Choice application period for the 2017-18 school year, has ended for grades K-5 at Carman Ainsworth Schools but applications are still being accepted for grades 6-12 until August 18. Applications are available at the C-A Administration Building or online. — R.S.
