Back to the Bricks Tune-up moving to new location

FLINT TWP. — After five years of hosting a Back to the Bricks Tune-up Party, township businesses will not be having an event this year. The west side preview of the annual car show is moving to Swartz Creek and Flushing, on Friday, August 11. Friday’s festivities will begin from 3-5 p.m. at the A-1 Treat Barn, 8541 Miller Rd. at Seymour Rd. in Swartz Creek (formerly the Dairy Queen) T-shirt tickets will be distributed at 4:15 pm. Food and drink specials will be offered for purchase. Parking is available on the grass behind the building by the water tower, and in the parking lot. From 5 -8 p.m. the party moves from Swartz Creek to the Flushing A, 200 S. Cherry Street with DJ Bob Steel spinning the “oldies.” T-shirts will be distributed by ELGA Credit Union from 7:00 to 7:30 pm. Other tune-ups will be in Davison, Monday, August 7; Clio, Tuesday, Aug. 8; Linden, Wednesday, Aug. 9; Fenton Thursday, Aug. 10 and Mt. Morris/ Beecher on Saturday, Aug. 12. — R.S.

Donations for September robotics yard sale

FLINT TWP. —Donations are being sought for the annual Carman-Ainsworth Robotics Yard Sale Fundraiser to be held from 9 a.m. – 5 pm. Saturday, September 2, Sunday, September 3 & Monday, September 4 at 5301 S. Dyewood Drive, Flint in between Court St and Calkins off Dye Rd. All proceeds go to the robotics team. Senior Citizen Center events

FLINT TWP. — Taking advantage of summer weather, several upcoming senior event will be held outdoors. Coming up at the center pavilion from 7-9 p.m. Friday August 11 is the Big Dance featuring the Fairlanes and the DeVille’s golden oldies music band. Tickets are $5 each in advance. The August Brunch will be an outdoor fish fry at a cost of $5 per person. And Tuesday, August 22 is Senior Day at the Genesee County Fair. Free passes are available at the center. — R.S.
