Get ready to shred
FLINT TWP. – The autumn Township Shredding Day is set for 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, September 30 at the township administrative building, 1490 S. Dye Road. Township residents are allowed to bring up to two boxes of documents per vehicle. That applies to paper only. Items that will not be accepted include large binder clips, prescription pill bottles, vinyl notebooks (binders) and hard cover books, said Clerk Kathy Funk. Shredding Day is scheduled once in the spring and once in the fall when a shredder truck is brought to the parking lot to handle sensitive documents. — R.S.
Time to shop at September robotics yard sale
FLINT TWP. — The annual Carman- Ainsworth Robotics Yard Sale Fundraiser will be held from 9am – 5 pm. Saturday, September 2, Sunday, September 3 & Monday, September 4 at 5301 S. Dyewood Drive, Flint in between Court St and Calkins off Dye Rd. All proceeds go to the robotics team. September is National Library Signup Month
GENESEE COUNTY –Genesee District Library and The Flint Public Library are partnering with community businesses for Library Card Sign-Up Month with a “Show Your Card and Save” promotion. During the month of September, library patrons will receive discounts and special offers from more than 60 Genesee County businesses simply by showing their library cards. Participating businesses include several shops at the Flint Farmers’ Market, Vogt’s Flowers and NCG Theaters, along with dozens of other Genesee County restaurants and service organizations. Pick up a list of participating businesses at any one of Genesee District Library’s 19 branches, or at the Flint Public Library. Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day
GENESEE COUNTY — Another Genesee County Recycle Day is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday October 22 at Bentley High School, 1150 N Belsay Rd. A collection also will be held that day at the Flint East Water Service Center, 3310 East Court Street in Flint. The Household Hazardous Waste Collection Recycle Day is set up several times each year to collect household hazard waste such as batteries, paint, pesticides, tires, smoke detectors, fluorescent bulbs and much more.
