WFBA meeting at new location
FLINT TWP. — The West Flint Business Association will hold its monthly meeting at a new location – the Valley Breakfast & Bistro at 1072 Elms Road, between Corunna and Calkins Road, from noon -1:15 p.m. on Thursday, October 19. Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton is the guest speaker and will be giving an update on the prosecutor’s office. WFBA meetings are open to the public and reservations are not needed. — R.S.
Time to shred
FLINT TWP. — The date for the autumn Township Shredding Day is 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, October 14 at the township administrative building, 1490 S. Dye Road. Enter off Reuben Drive. Township residents are allowed to bring up to two boxes of documents per vehicle. That applies to paper only. Items that will not be accepted include large binder clips, prescription pill bottles, vinyl notebooks (binders) and hard cover books, said Clerk Kathy Funk. Shredding Day is scheduled once in the spring and once in the fall when a shredder truck is brought to the parking lot to handle sensitive documents. — R.S.
Tickets on sale for annual fundraiser to help children
FLINT TWP. — Tickets are being sold for “Unlock their Future,” the annual fundraiser dinner to benefit Motherly Intercession, 3010 Dye Road. The organization works to help children of incarcerated parents. The benefit dinner will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 11 at the Davison Knights of Columbus Hall, 8428 Davison Road. The evening will include a fashion show, the 2017 Essential Piece Honoree Ceremony, a Deals and Steals silent auction, a television raffle and door prizes. Tickets are $50 per adult and $20 for children under age 10. Sponsorships also are offered. Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day
GENESEE COUNTY — Another Genesee County Recycle Day is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday October 22 at Bentley High School, 1150 N Belsay Rd. A collection also will be held that day at the Flint East Water Service Center, 3310 East Court Street in Flint. The Household Hazardous Waste Collection Recycle Day is set up several times each year to collect household hazard waste such as batteries, paint, pesticides, tires, smoke detectors, fluorescent bulbs and much more.
