Old Newsboys needs helpers

FLINT —The Old Newsboys is in need of volunteers to help with their annual newspaper sale on Friday, Dec. 8. Call 810-744-1840 if you are able to assist us with the mission of “Let No Child Be Forgotten!”. The organization is looking for persons 18 years and older to captain corners and/or stand on corners taking donations. The areas that need coverage currently are Flint Township and Flushing. — P.S.

Sign up for Senior Olympics

FLINT TWP. — Registration for the 2018 Senior Winter Games started November 6, said Pam Luna, director of the Flint Township Senior Center. The event is observing its 40th year of competition. The registration cost is $12 per person and includes an opening and closing ceremony. 2018 sponsors include Genesee County Senior Millage, UAW Region 1D, Huntington Bank, The Moen Group Inc., and Valley Area Agency on Aging! The events will be held in February at various senior facilities countywide and include a long list of competitions ranging from arts and crafts to karaoke, line dancing, baking and lawn bowling. Luna said she will be putting up posters about the event but anyone interested in signing up can do so at the senior center.
