Treasurer nominated to serve on KWA board

FLINT TWP. — The township board has nominated Lisa Anderson, township treasurer, to serve as its representative on the Karegnondi Water Authority board which oversees water distribution of the new pipeline. Former township treasurer Marsha Binelli previously served as a member of the authority that includes representatives from the counties of Genesee, Lapeer and Sanilac and municipalities within those counties. — R.S.

Yard waste drop-off sites

FLINT TWP. — Weekly yard waste pickup by Emterra ended for the season on Nov. 30, but alternative disposal options are being offered to township residents who still have yard waste to get rid of. Local landscapers will take it, said Township Supervisor Karyn Miller. Those include Ficks Landscaping, 6452 Corunna Road; Country Oaks Landscaping Supply, 3218 E Atherton Rd. in Burton; and De Buck Sod Farm in Davison, for the full list, contact Rose Shifflett, township hall receptionist at 810-732-1350 . Miller also stressed that the Brent Run landfill in Montrose will not take yard waste but township residents can take one load of other trash there once per month, free of charge. — R.S.

Mill Road Bridge in Flint Township closed until further notice

FLINT TWP. — Due to safety considerations, the Mill Road Bridge over the Flint River, located between Beecher and Flushing Roads will be closed to traffic until further notice. Lanes closed on Miller Road and Bristol Road for emergency water main repairs

FLINT TWP. — Due to a water main break on Monday near Bristol and Miller roads, the Genesee County Drain Commissioner’s Office closed one westbound lane of Bristol Road at the Linden Road intersection and also various lanes of Miller Road at Bristol Road intersection to make emergency water main repairs. The break led to a boil water advisory for residents of Swartz Creek, Gaines and Clayton Townships. Flint Township Supervisor Karyn Miller said she was told that repairs would be completed overnight and the roadway reopened to drivers by 6 a.m. Tuesday morning. Duffield Road open

GAINES TOWNSHIP — The Genesee County Road Commission announced that Duffield Road, between Reid and Hill roads, was open to traffic Friday, Dec. 15. The scheduled completion date for paving over the Terry Drain is June. Motorists should use caution. — L.R.
