New Years’ Eve at the Whiting

FLINT — The Whiting’s annual NYE Gala will be held from 8-11:55 p.m., Dec. 31. Flint-town Countdown New Year’s Eve Event

FLINT — Join Black Tie Productions, Townsquare Media and the Flint DDA 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. on December 31, as they transform the Flint Farmers’ Market, 300 E. First St., into a 2-level mega New Year’s Eve Party with big city lighting, a major big bass sound system and fireworks at midnight. There will be two areas with DJs and live music. African American film series

FLINT — Communities First, Inc. has partnered with the Flint Institute of Arts to host the third annual African American Film Series. Reception and live entertainment begins at 5:30 p.m. for each date. The series takes place once a month through February. Currently showing Thursday, January 11 – I Am Not Your Negro ( Writer James Baldwin tells the story of race in modern America based on his unfinished novel, “Remember This House”. Rated PG-13. Reception and live entertainment begins at 5:30 p.m. Films begin at 7 p.m. Seating is limited to 300. Suggested donation is $2 per person.
