Goodrich CC girls win Holly/ Duane Raffin Festival of Races

DAVISBURG — The Goodrich girls varsity cross country team placed first at the 53rd Annual Holly/Duane Raffin Festival of Races on Sept. 18 at the Springfield Oaks County Park in Davisburg, MI. Goodrich finished with 41 points and placed four runners in the top 12 and five in the top 19. The Martians were led by freshman Kamy Lauinger, who won the race and improved her personal best by completing the course in 19:32.1. Sophomore Olivia Giza finished second for Goodrich and fifth overall with a time of 20:26.9. Sophomore Alexis Waring (20:43) came in third for Goodrich, seventh overall, and freshman Natalie Steward finished 12th overall and improved her personal best by over a full minute in a time of 21:09.8. — B.G.

Grand Blanc finishes third at SVL cross country meet

FLINT TWP. — The Grand Blanc boys varsity cross country team took third place at the SVL South Jamboree 5,000-meter race at Carman-Ainsworth High School on Sept. 15. The Bobcats finished with 72 points behind first-place Davison (31) and second place Flint Powers Catholic (33). Drew Balow was the highest finisher for Grand Blanc with a time of 17:50.22 in sixth place. Charles Powers (18:26.94) came in 14th and Christopher Lengyel (18:29.46) finished 15th for the Bobcats. — B.G.
