Goodrich’s Madill qualifies for state golf meet

PONTIAC — Goodrich’s Emily Madill was the top individual state qualifier not on a qualifying team at the Pontiac Notre Dame Prep-hosted Div. 3 girls’ golf regional at the Pontiac Country Club last Wednesday. Madill carded a solid round of 87. Goodrich placed fourth overall, missing the top-three cut for teams by 19 strokes. — L.P.

Grand Blanc boys qualify for state tennis meet

GRAND BLANC — The Grand Blanc boys’ tennis team hosted and placed second at the Div. 1 regional last Thursday and will move on to this week’s Div. 1 state meet at Kalamazoo. The tournament takes place Oct. 14-15. Holt won the regional title with 18 points and Grand Blanc was second with 16. Teams have to win or place second to move on to the state meet. The winner and runner-up at No. 1 Singles automatically qualify regardless of team placement. — L.P.

Goodrich girls cross country finished first at meet

GOODRICH — On Oct. 9 the Goodrich girls’ varsity cross country team prevailed against all D2 teams. The Goodrich finished with two in the top six and five in the top 59, the field was 183. Freshmen Kamy Lauinger was first for Goodrich and fifth for Goodrich with a time of 19:27.

Sophomore Olivia Giza was second for Goodrich and sixth overall with a new personal best of 19:36 Third for Goodrich and 26th overall was Freshmen Natalie Steward with a new personal best of 20:45. Fourth for Goodrich and 33rd overall was Freshmen Avery Byrne with a new personal best of 21:05. Fifth for Goodrich and 59th overall was sophomore Ella Kenworthy with a season best of 22:06. Sixth for Goodrich and 63rd overall was Sophomore Sophia Shelton with a personal best of 22:20. Seventh for Goodrich and 64th overall was Senior Ellie Winter with a season best of 22:22. — G.G.

Bobcats remains undefeated

GRAND BLANC — The Grand Blanc football team is still undefeated on the season at 6-0 after beating Saginaw Heritage Friday night. This Friday, a clash with 6-1 Lapeer at Grand Blanc puts the teams in a race for the Saginaw Valley League-Red Division title. Both teams are 3-0 in league play.

Grand Blanc beat East Lansing 40-34, Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central 38-34, Midland Dow 27-23, Davison 43-7, Flint Powers 48-7, Carman-Ainsworth 35-6 and Saginaw Heritage 41-7. — L.P.
