Grand Blanc football undefeated, clinches SVL-Red title

GRAND BLANC — The Grand Blanc varsity football team remains undefeated at 8-0 after beating Lapeer 30-6 Friday night. The Bobcats also clinched the outright SVL-Red title. — L.P.

GRAND BLANC — Grand Blanc placed ninth in Div. 1 at the two-day tournament carding 703. Kate Brody tied for fourth overall with 147, Taylor Kondel fired a 158, Sadie Kondel 175 and Ali Anderson 223.

Swartz Creek was 16th in Div. 2 with Megan Dikos carding 198, Shannon Mackey 200, Eliza Behrens carding 204, Emmalynn Scrivener 245 and Makenna Allen 261.

Individuals who had qualified include Flushing’s Anya Ng who finished 46th with a two-day total of 186, Kearsley’s Sara Ritchey who carded 187 for 47th and Goodrich’s Emily Madill who placed 57th in Div. 3 with 200. — L.P.

GRAND BLANC — Grand Blanc earned two points in Div. 1. Wins were posted by Ashton Hesson at No. 1 Singles and Krishna Pedavalli at No. 3 Singles.

Soccer districts

GENESEE COUNTY — Goodrich played Fenton Tuesday night in the semifinal at Brandon High after our copy deadline. Goodrich beat Pontiac 4-0 in district opener last Thursday. Goals came from Caeden Rossell (2), Landen Smith, and Grant Blitchok. Assists from Cole May and Brady Mikels. Nathan Olson earned the shutout in goal.

Swartz Creek lost to Clio 2-0 in Monday’s semifinal at Brandon. The Dragons beat Owosso 2-1 in the district opener.

Davison played Clarkston Tuesday night in the semis at Lake Orion Tuesday night after copy deadline. Davison beat Lapeer 1-0 in the district opener at Lapeer.

Kearsley edged out North Branch 3-2 Monday in the semifinal at Clio. Kearsley beat Carman-Ainsworth 4-2 in the district opener. — L.P.

Grand Blanc Boys CC finish fifth at local meet

GOODRICH — The Grand Blanc Boys Varsity Cross Country team finished in fifth place out of nine teams at the Kayla O”Mara CC Invitational, scoring 96 points. Drew Balow (18:30.60) and Charles Powers (18:49.58) earned medals, placing fourth and 11th, respectively. The JV cross country team also finished in fourth place out of six teams, scoring 107 points. Alan Rodriguez (21:22.54) and Max Merrill (21:23.21) earned medals, placing 12th and 13th, respectively. — B.G.
