Regional cross-x qualifiers

The Goodrich girls’ cross-country team won the Div. 2 regional at Lake Fenton Saturday. Goodrich was led by freshmen Kamy Lauinger who finished first overall in 20:44.20. Third overall was sophomore Olivia Giza in 21:41.6. Sixth overall was sophomore Alexis Waring in 21:50.3. Freshman Natalie Steward was 15th in 23:05.20, freshman Avery Byrne was 16th in 23:10.20, and 30th overall was sophomore Ella Kenworthy in 24:04.10. Sophomore Sophia Shelton was 44th in 25:16.80. The boys’ team placed fifth. For the boys, Cooper Grzeskowski was eighth in 18:39.20.

In Div. 1, at Hess Hathaway Park (host Waterford Mott) Grand Blanc girls were third and the boys fifth. Drew Balow was ninth in the boys’ race in 17:17.90. Lola Thomas won the girls’ race in 19:14.0, Lydia Minzey was 13th in 20:30.85 and Jaclyn Garvey 29th in 21:11.35. Grace Tykocki was 34th in 21:40.31, Sam Shaver 40th in 21:52.36, Sam Wagaman 41st in 21:5484 and Maya Youngs 43rd in 21:58.06. — L.P.

Football playoffs

Grand Blanc remains undefeated at 10-0 after beating Holt 25-6 Friday. The Bobcats will play Howell, which beat Hartland 35-28 in 3OT. Goodrich lost its pre-district game to Freeland 22-3. — L.P.

Soccer districts

Goodrich lost to Fenton in the semifinal at Brandon High several weeks back. Goodrich beat Pontiac 4-0 in district opener. Goals came from Caeden Rossell (2), Landen Smith, and Grant Blitchok. Assists from Cole May and Brady Mikels. Nathan Olson earned the shutout in goal.

Swartz Creek lost to Clio 2-0 in the semifinal at Brandon. The Dragons beat Owosso 2-1 in the district opener.

Davison lost to Clarkston in the semis at Lake Orion. Davison beat Lapeer 1-0 in the district opener at Lapeer.

Kearsley edged out North Branch 3-2 in the semifinal at Clio. Kearsley beat Carman-Ainsworth 4-2 in the district opener. — L.P.

State golf and tennis

Also, several weeks ago, Grand Blanc placed ninth in Div. 1 at the two-day girls’ golf state tournament carding 703. Kate Brody tied for fourth overall with 147, Taylor Kondel fired a 158, Sadie Kondel 175 and Ali Anderson 223.

Swartz Creek was 16th in Div. 2 with Megan Dikos carding 198, Shannon Mackey 200, Eliza Behrens carding 204, Emmalynn Scrivener 245 and Makenna Allen 261.

Individuals who had qualified include Flushing’s Anya Ng who finished 46th with a two-day total of 186, Kearsley’s Sara Ritchey who carded 187 for 47th and Goodrich’s Emily Madill who placed 57th in Div. 3 with 200. -— L.P.

State tennis results

Grand Blanc earned two points in Div. 1. Wins were posted by Ashton Hesson at No. 1 Singles and Krishna Pedavalli at No. 3 Singles.

Flushing earned one point in Div. 2. Ryan Mignerey/Jake Morrison beat East Lansing in doubles play. — L.P.
